Strip Seal is used to lessen the impact of the bundle bypass stream, which circles the exterior of the tube bundle. In order to stop the bypass flow and force it back into the tube bundle, they are typically thin strips of metal that slide into slots in the baffles and extend outward toward the shell wall.
